Representative Ilhan Omar, a member of the US House of Representatives, said in a post on her Twitter account that Sudan is facing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with atrocities being committed there.
Ilhan pointed out that there are tens of thousands of people dead and more than 12 million displaced people, describing the situation in Sudan as sad and terrifying.
She said that the images and videos showing the RSF forces occupying the city of El Fasher are shocking and show the suffering of the Sudanese people in the ongoing civil war.
Ilhan Omar strongly condemned the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and arms dealers who support or supply weapons to the RSF and its allied militias, calling for accountability and serious punishment for anyone involved in the bloodshed in the country.
“The Emirates and others who provide arms to RSF must be held accountable,” said Ilhan Omar, reiterating that the international community must respond to the genocide and mass displacement in Sudan.
