The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived in Nairobi, Kenya today, where he attended the State Funeral of former Kenyan Prime Minister, Raila Amolo Odinga.
The President joined international and regional leaders who gathered at the Nyayo Stadium to attend the farewell ceremony for the veteran Kenyan politician, whose death was widely mourned both at home and abroad.
President Hassan Sheikh expressed his deep condolences to the people and government of Kenya, especially the family and friends of the late Raila Odinga.
“Raila Odinga was a champion of democracy and justice, and his death has had a profound impact on the entire region,” the President said.
Raila’s supporters lined the streets of the country to attend Raila’s funeral, with reports of violence in some areas.
