The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting today, which focused on security, diplomacy, and the development of government services.
The meeting approved an official proposal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, regarding the promotion of four diplomats within the Somali government. The approved ambassadors are: Ahmed Abdullahi Ahmed, who was promoted to the rank of Ambassador, Shirwac Abdullahi Ibrahim, who was promoted to Ambassador, Hassan Hussein Hassan, who was promoted to Ambassador, and Guuleed Warsame Rooti, who was promoted to Consul.
In addition, the Ministries of Internal Security and Defense shared security reports with the Cabinet, which showed that significant successes have been achieved against the Al-Shabaab Group in the past six months.
The report stated that the equipment and training of the National Security Forces have been strengthened, in order to strengthen the overall security of the country.
The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, as the President urged the government to accelerate the implementation of government plans and the implementation of essential social services.
