The Galmudug administration today officially executed Nur Hirsi Warsame, who was previously convicted of the murder of Ahmed wali Mohamed Salad in July 2025, in Dhagaxbuur area, under Guriceel district of Galgaduud region.
The death sentence was previously handed down by the Galmudug Supreme Court, following weeks of extensive investigations and formal hearings, which found that Nur Hirsi intentionally killed the deceased.
The execution was attended by members of the judiciary, security forces, local scholars, and families of both parties, to demonstrate the integrity of the legal process and the community’s satisfaction with the verdict.
A spokesperson for the Galmudug Attorney General’s office told the media that the execution of the sentence is in line with the country’s laws, particularly the Somali Penal Code, and is a step to uphold justice and prevent serious crimes.
“This is a clear message to anyone who intends to commit serious criminal acts such as murder, Galmudug is committed to maintaining security and justice,” the spokesperson said.
