US-Somalia Business Conference inaugurated by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today officially opened the Somalia–U.S. Presidential Trade Summit, held in the capital, Mogadishu, which was described as historic and a centerpiece of the new trade partnership between the two countries.

In his opening remarks at the summit, the President noted that the summit is a developmental step that demonstrates that Somalia has moved from a stage of aid dependency to a path of genuine cooperation, economic development, and entrepreneurial innovation.

“This summit is a symbol of change for Somalia, and we want to show the world that our country is a new market open to international investment, especially U.S. investment. We are encouraging the growth of the private sector and social innovation,” said President Hassan Sheikh.

The President also stressed the importance of business cooperation between Somalia and the United States, noting that Somalia is well-positioned to become a destination for investment and to take advantage of the business opportunities that exist in the country.

The conference, which was attended by senior officials from both governments, businesspeople, and representatives from financing institutions, focused on promoting investment opportunities, business cooperation, and the development of Somalia’s economic infrastructure.

This conference was described as strengthening Somalia’s economic diplomacy and enhancing the country’s reputation, which is important for economic growth and stability in the region.
