Former Finance Minister Hassan Shire Abgaal, who returned to Garowe today after losing the 2024 Puntland presidential election, said he would bring the Federal Government to Garowe if President Deni brings the government’s opposition to Garowe.
Hassan Shire Abgaal, who is considered one of the Puntland politicians with close ties to the Federal Government, accused President Deni of personally obstructing the development projects of the Puntland people that are blocked by the Federal Government.
Politician Abgaal said during his visit to Garowe that it is time to build a new Puntland, calling on Puntland leaders to come together and declare a conference to discuss the fate of Puntland.
He said that all government institutions in Puntland have retired, and not a single one is working, and that Puntland employees and soldiers have been without rights for more than six months, which has led to the soldiers blocking roads and blocking taxpayers’ vehicles, after they lost their rights from the Deni government.
“You know the state administration and government institutions are in a state of disarray and as they are today, there is not a single functioning government office in Puntland, and in general there is no ongoing work. You know that the salaries of workers and soldiers have been delayed for more than six months, with the soldiers setting up checkpoints on the roads to get their rights,” said Mr. Hassan Shire Abgaal.
Hassan Shire also said that the projects blocked by the political decisions of the Deni government have caused economic and livelihood isolation for the people of Puntland, who have become victims of bad politics and bad governance, noting that from now on, President Deni will be held accountable for this.
