The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Commander-in-Chief of the Somali Armed Forces, today officially inaugurated the new headquarters of the Somali National Army’s Reconnaissance and Intelligence Command.
The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced technology designed to enhance the strategic capabilities of the armed forces and counter security threats in the country.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud described the facility as a reflection of the Federal Government of Somalia’s ongoing efforts to build and strengthen security and defense institutions. He stressed that the facility will greatly assist the forces in conducting reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and strategic planning for the country’s security.
The President noted that the progress made in the construction of the facility is a symbol of the unity of the Somali people and the courage of the armed forces, who are sacrificing their lives and property to defend the country.
During the event, the President particularly thanked the Ministry of Defense and the Somali National Army Command for their continuous efforts to rebuild and improve the army.
He noted that the government is fully committed to accelerating efforts towards ensuring overall security in the country.
The President also paid an official visit to the Ministry of Defense headquarters, where he met with senior officers from the armed forces. While there, he listened to a detailed report on the successes achieved by the military and the Popular Forces in the opening stages of the war, especially in the Galguduud and Lower Shabelle regions.
