Soldiers Wounded in the Battle of Ceeldheer Brought to Mogadishu.

Somali soldiers injured in yesterday’s fighting in Ceeldheer district, Galgaduud region of Galmudug state, have been brought to Mogadishu for treatment.

The soldiers, who suffered various injuries, were rushed to medical facilities in the capital, especially the National Army Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. When the soldiers arrived in Mogadishu yesterday, they were visited by senior officials including parliamentarians, military officers, and government officials.

The Federal Government of Somalia announced that six soldiers were killed in the fighting in Ceeldheer, while fourteen (14) others were injured.

The government also said that the fighting was heavy and that the national and local forces succeeded in repelling a large-scale attack by the Al-Shabaab group.

An official statement from the Somali Ministry of Defense revealed that Al-Shabaab suffered heavy losses and was taken prisoner.

“More than 30 Al-Shabaab terrorists have been killed, while senior members of the group have been captured after security forces and local forces foiled a multi-pronged attack in Ceeldheer district, Galgaduud region,” a statement from the Somali Ministry of Defense said.

Senior officials from the Federal Government are expected to visit the injured today. There is also heavy security activity around the National Hospital, with presidential vehicles and special forces seen providing security.
