The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia has strongly condemned the Israeli aggression against the State of Qatar, especially its capital city of Doha.
The Council affirmed that Somalia stands with the brotherly government and people of Qatar, and fully rejects aggression and violations of international laws and regulations.
There is increasing condemnation of the Israeli government for its action in bombing the Hamas office in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
Earlier, an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia expressed strong concern about the impact of these attacks on the peace and stability of the Gulf region, stating that this act is a flagrant violation of all international agreements and principles for the protection of civilians.
The ministry called on the United Nations Security Council to intervene immediately and take effective measures to stop the “aggressive acts” and prevent innocent civilians from becoming targets of violence.
Similarly, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who spoke by phone with the Emir of Qatar, stressed that such violations are in direct violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter, threaten regional stability, and undermine ongoing peace efforts in the Middle East.
Finally, Somalia joins the international community in calling for restraint, respect for international law, and a lasting ceasefire that ensures justice, peace, and lasting stability in the Middle East.
