The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, spoke strongly about the difficult situation facing the Palestinian people, especially those living in Gaza, during his address to the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah.
The Minister strongly condemned the massacre and suffering inflicted by Israel on the Palestinian people, calling for an end to the fighting and an immediate ceasefire, and the protection of civilians.
He also urged the facilitation of the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to save the lives of the suffering people in Gaza.
Minister Abdisalam also noted the importance of supporting the two-state solution, which is based on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Minister then commended international efforts to achieve lasting peace, noting that Somalia is fully committed to preserving the territorial integrity of the OIC member states, including Somalia itself.
Finally, the minister stressed that Somalia fully supports the rights of the Palestinian people, the protection of international law, and peaceful efforts to achieve a lasting solution.
