The Cairo Center for Peace, Conflict and Training (CCCPA) has announced the completion of the first training course for Egyptian military units joining the new African Union Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The training, jointly organized by CCCPA and the Egyptian Ministry of Defense, was attended by the Government of Japan, which played a significant role in providing technical and financial support.
The new African Union Mission in Somalia (#AUSSOM) replaces the previous ATMIS operation, with a focus on building Somali security capabilities, supporting the national army and ensuring a smooth and successful transition to security.
Egypt has now become a prominent player in strengthening Somalia’s security, with its units being prepared before they are deployed to the field.
The training focused on peacekeeping skills, international cooperation and adapting to the challenging conditions in Somalia.
The United Nations and international organizations supporting Somalia’s security are intensifying efforts to build military capabilities for deployment inside Somalia.
