The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, this morning officially inaugurated the new Galmudug State Parliament building in Dhusamareb town, Galgaduud region.

The modern building, built to strengthen the legislative work of the Galmudug administration, is part of a wider project to improve governance, improve social services, and strengthen state institutions at the regional level.

In addition to the inauguration of the parliament building, President Hassan Sheikh also laid the foundation stone for other important projects that have recently been completed or are planned to be implemented in Galmudug regions.

These projects focus on developing economic infrastructure, enhancing social services, and strengthening state institutions.

The President of Galmudug State, Ahmed Abdi Kaariye (Qoor-Qoor), recently said that the region has benefited greatly from development projects jointly implemented by the federal government and Galmudug, noting that these projects demonstrate the growing cooperation between the Federal Government and the member states.

On the other hand, the Federal President held high-level meetings with Galmudug leaders, which focused on accelerating operations against the terrorist group Al-Shabaab.

The discussions focused on liberating areas still held by the group in Galgaduud and Mudug regions.

The opening of the Galmudug Parliament building marks progress in the federalization process in Somalia, as the federal government continues its efforts to fund regional state institutions, in parallel with operations to ensure the country’s security.
