The United States has announced a reward of up to $10 million and repatriation for information leading to information about the financial activities of the Islamic State group in Somalia.

A report published on the website of the US Department of Justice of the State Department stated that the group obtains funds through various means, including tax collection and extortion of local residents, businessmen and farmers, which significantly affects the life of the community.
The group also obtains funds through money laundering, kidnapping for ransom, and arms trafficking, with these illegal activities being a major part of financing its operations.
The report also states that acts of piracy and illegal fishing, facilitation of migration and travel, and cash transfers, mobile money and cryptocurrency are sources of funding for ISIS in Somalia.
The US government has called on the public to submit any information regarding ISIS activities in Somalia, with anyone who provides valuable information eligible for a cash reward and the opportunity for resettlement.
