Reports from Tardo in Hiran region indicate that warplanes carried out a heavy airstrike on a house in Tardo last night.
The house targeted in the airstrike was reportedly home to senior Al-Shabaab leaders, especially officials including the group’s leader in Hiran region and the group’s military leadership in the region.
The sound of the airstrike was heard loudly last night in areas near Tardo and even those further away, however, the number of casualties from the airstrike carried out by warplanes in Tardo last night has not yet been officially confirmed.
There is no official statement from the Federal Government of Somalia regarding the airstrike that took place last night in Tardo and the casualties inflicted on Al-Shabaab leaders and militants.
The Tardo area was recently taken over by Al-Shabaab militants, after the Federal Government forces and local militias known as the Macawiisleyda withdrew from the area.
Finally, this airstrike comes as military operations are still underway in the Hiran region by government forces and the Maoists, who are seeking to retake the areas and districts in the Hiran region from the group.
