A fire broke out in the Bakara Market yesterday, and the Banadir Regional Administration spoke about the damage caused.

The Banadir Regional Administration and the Xamar Local Government have provided details of a major fire that broke out in the medicine section of the Bakara Market in Howlwadaag District of the Banadir Region, which the fire department managed to extinguish.

A statement issued by the Office of the Director of the Emergency and Fire Department of the Xamar Local Government, Abdiaziz Godax Bare, stated that the department’s personnel controlled a major fire that broke out last night at around 06:32 PM in the Bakara Market, Medicine Section.

The fire broke out in a 6-room commercial building, which sells various medicines.

The news also stated that the Banadir Regional Fire Department managed to save 4 other buildings, which are located in 21 commercial buildings, selling medicines, blood tests and electronic devices.

Videos and photos shared on social media were seen at the scene of the fire, and 38 personnel from the Banadir Region Emergency Department directly participated in extinguishing the fire.

This is not the first time that the Bakara market has experienced such a fire, but during stormy periods, the market is most prone to fires.
