A statement issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission has been told to all those concerned with the filling of vacant seats in the People’s Assembly of the Somali Parliament that the Commission is informing the stakeholders that the elections will be held for the two seats in Galmudug State.
These two seats have already been vacated by Saadaq Omar Hassan (Saadaq Joon) who was appointed as the Deputy Director of the NISA Agency and Mustaf Sheikh Ali Dhuxulow who was appointed as the Director of the Somali Immigration and Nationality Agency.
The seat number HOP#248 vacated by Saadaq Joon is scheduled to be filled on the 6th of March, while the seat number HOP#049 vacated by Mustaf Dhuxulow will be held on the 8th of March.
Another 3 seats are still vacant in the People’s Assembly and one of them is the seat vacated by the director of the Somali Security Agency, Abdullahi Sanbaloolshe, and the seats where the two MPs, Khadija Mohamed Diriye and MP Seesey, have passed away.
On the 25th of last month, the Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Sheikh Adan Madobe, sent a letter to the Electoral Commission, telling them to quickly fill the 5 vacant seats in the Somali People’s Assembly.
