The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia Bihi Iman Cige and a delegation led by him are participating in the annual meeting of the World Bank and the IMF in Washington DC in the United States of America.
This conference, which will be attended by more than a hundred countries, will last for a week, and the focus will be on the development of the economy and the fruition of the process of strengthening the finances of the host countries, who will present their views on the development of finance.
Somalia’s Minister of Finance, Bihi Iman Cige, held preliminary meetings with officials from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Among the officials that Minister Bihi Iman met with are the Vice President of the World Bank for South and East Africa Victoria Kwakwa and Jihad Azour who is the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department.
“The meeting that was important for the development of Somalia’s economy was held by the Government delegation with Mr. Jihad Azour, who is the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department. The meeting was particularly analyzed in the process of reforming Somalia’s finances, which is currently in good progress. after the debt forgiveness and the strategic plan for the stabilization of the economy of Somalia, in which the IMF has a major role.
It was at the end of last year when Somalia was able to be forgiven from the long-standing debt after the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the African Development Bank and other international organizations agreed that Somalia had met the requirements.
