The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and his delegation arrived today in Asmara, Eritrea.
The President of Somalia, who spoke briefly about the trip of the President and his delegation, said that it was a business trip, and the delegation of the President of Somalia welcomed the President of Eritrea, Isaias Afwerki, at Asmara Airport.
The Eritrean government, which spoke about the Somali president’s trip, said that the president and his delegation will be in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, for two days.
The two presidents of Somalia and Eritrea will discuss the strengthening of relations between the two governments and the latest situation in the region and the world, as announced by the Ministry of Information of Eritrea.
President Hassan Sheikh’s visit to Asmara today comes as Somalia is facing serious tension with the Ethiopian government, which signed an agreement with Somaliland in Addis Ababa at the beginning of this month.
The government of Somalia and many countries in the world strongly opposed the agreement that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed made in Addis Ababa with the president of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi. will recognize it as an independent government.
