The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is scheduled to travel to Kampala later today to attend the summit of the countries where troops are stationed in Somalia.

This meeting will assess achievements in the implementation of ATMIS mandates, review of the ATMIS mitigation plan, and compliance with United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCRs) 26/70 (2022) and 26/28.

Technical officials from the countries that have sent troops to Somalia, including Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda, have started meetings to prepare for the summit.

This event follows President Hassan Sheikh’s request for Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to host an extraordinary meeting during the African-American Summit in Washington DC in December 2022.

This summit was preceded by meetings held by the Commander of the Armed Forces, the Permanent Secretaries, and the Ministerial meeting of ATMIS, countries (TCC) and the Government of Somalia, which took place on the 25th and 26th of April.
