The Somali Defense Forces and the United States held a meeting to end the Al-Shabaab war.

The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia gave details of a meeting that lasted several hours in Kenya with senior officials from the Ministry of Defense of the United States government.

In the meeting that took place in the city of Nairobi, the Deputy Defense Minister of Somalia, Abdifatah Qasim, was accompanied by the Commander of the Somali Armed Forces, Major General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuddin, the Director General of the Somali Presidency, Abdihakin Mohamed Yusuf and other members.

The meeting was one where both parties discussed how to promote the cooperation between the two governments of Somalia and the United States.

“The meeting ended successfully and we discussed how to strengthen the relationship between the two governments and how to increase support for the operations to eradicate Al-Shabaab in the country and the third phase is being prepared,” said Somalia’s Deputy Defense Minister Abdifatah Qasim.

Senior officials from the United States Department of Defense have promised to redouble their support to the Somali government in the areas of development and the fight against the Al-Shabaab group in Somalia.
