The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh has declared that there is no further debate on the constitution of Somalia, as he defended the decision of the two houses of parliament yesterday to approve the process of amending the constitution.<\/p>\n

President Hassan Sheikh said, any changes made to the constitution will come into effect when the next government is elected. He said that the country needs to have an official constitution.<\/p>\n

The president said that the amendment of the constitution will continue until a referendum is held. He said that his government is ready to discuss issues affecting the country’s destiny with whoever is concerned.<\/p>\n

“Political issues that require negotiation between the federal government and the member states are being discussed and brought before the parliament,” said President Hassan Sheikh.<\/p>\n

He said that most of the constitutions are not controversial. pointing out that what is in dispute and needs to be agreed upon are political issues.<\/p>\n

“If we say we are bringing two parties, it is enough for us to say no, we do not film two parties, we want three parties or five parties. We are not writing degrees in two parties,” said the president.<\/p>\n

This statement was made by President Hassan Sheikh in Garowe where he attended the inauguration ceremony of President Deni today.<\/p>\n
