The government of Somaliland said that the maritime agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia will not stand up to the opposition expressed by the federal government.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somaliland, Dr Isse Kayd Mohamud, who spoke to the media, said that the federal government does not have the power to block the agreement, whatever step it takes.<\/p>\n

“The Villa Somalia government has been running around the world for the past few days saying that it owns Somaliland. We know that it cannot be controlled by the Banadir region, so Hassan Sheikh cannot talk about Somaliland and its relations with the world,” said Minister Kayd.<\/p>\n

The minister said that Somaliland has made a lot of efforts this year in seeking recognition, he said that they will knock on every door that is in Somaliland’s interest, and we will not stop the pressure and anyone who opposes it.<\/p>\n

The agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia, which was signed on the 1st of this month, has angered the Somali government, as President Hassan Sheikh has described Ethiopia as an enemy that wants to destroy the regional unity of Somalia.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia, for its part, said that this agreement is no different from the agreement that the UAE invested in the port of Berbera, and that it will not harm anyone.<\/p>\n
