“We have withdrawn from the competition and we have confirmed that the security agencies of Banadir region and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have failed to protect the safety of the players representing the teams participating in this competition, especially those from the South West who have been targeted, some of the players are seriously injured,” said the minister. The stone attack that caused damage to the South West players came when they played against their counterparts in Galmudug yesterday and they lost.<\/p>\n

The minister also said that this attack on the South West players is the second they have encountered, and he pointed out that the South West players were attacked in this way in the previous tournament in Mogadishu.<\/p>\n

The South West team announced that they have withdrawn from the competition. They have only one game left against Hirshabelle, and that game depends on their hopes and they can go to the semi-finals if they win.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Government of Somalia, responding to the attack on the South West team, has announced that the football competition of the states and the Banadir region has been suspended for three days.<\/p>\n

This decision comes at the time when the bus carrying South West players was attacked last night, and the action was condemned by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Banadir Regional Police Command and the Banadir Regional Administration.<\/p>\n
