The Puntland navy has strengthened its coastal operations in the areas of that administration, after the pirates started attacking fishing boats and commercial ships.<\/p>\n

The statement of this officer coincided with the fact that a group of pirates recently hijacked a fishing boat from Iran. The pirates demanded a ransom of $400,000<\/p>\n

However, the United States and British forces recently thwarted an attack by Somali pirates on a commercial ship flying the flag of Liberia. He was traveling in the Gulf of Yemen when he was attacked.<\/p>\n
