Richard H. Riley, who was appointed by the President of the United States as the ambassador to Somalia, is expected to take over the position officially soon.<\/p>\n

The new ambassador is the fourth US ambassador to Somalia since diplomatic relations between the two countries were restored in 2013.<\/p>\n

Richard H. Riley replaces Larry Andr\u00e9 Jr., who has held the position for one year. He expressed his confidence that he can handle the responsibilities of ambassador in Somalia.<\/p>\n

He stressed his cooperation with the United States military, USAID, and other organizations that work with the fight against international terrorism.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Stephen Schwartz became the first US ambassador to Somalia in June 2016 after the civil war, followed by Donald Yamamoto in October 2018. Larry Andr\u00e9 Jr. He was ambassador from February 2022 to July 2023.<\/p>\n

The United States remains committed to supporting Somalia’s journey towards stability and development, especially after years of instability and protracted civil war.<\/p>\n
