The minister of internal affairs of the government of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, said that the federal government will not force Puntland to be part of the electoral system of the National Consultative Council.<\/p>\n

Minister Ahmed Macalin Fiqi has declared that Puntland will be outside the election system adopted by his government, and he said that it will be implemented in the four regional governments and the Banadir region.<\/p>\n

“Four regional governments and Banadir have united in this election, and we hope that Puntland will be part of it in the near future, if God wills it,” said Fiqi.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Internal Affairs pointed out that Puntland’s refusal will not prevent the implementation of the agreed elections.<\/p>\n

He said Puntland, after five years, they are open to participate in this election<\/p>\n

However, Puntland has said that it will not be part of the electoral system agreed by the National Consultative Council.<\/p>\n

She described it as a system that goes against the political distribution of power in the country.<\/p>\n

President Hassan Sheikh insists that the country should have two national parties, as well as remove the prime minister and replace him with a vice president.<\/p>\n

Politicians and former leaders of the country are also opposed to this election plan that the government wants the parliament to approve.<\/p>\n
