{"id":95748,"date":"2023-11-01T00:05:25","date_gmt":"2023-10-31T21:05:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/warsom.com\/wararka\/?p=95748"},"modified":"2023-11-01T00:09:18","modified_gmt":"2023-10-31T21:09:18","slug":"95748","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/warsom.com\/wararka\/2023\/11\/95748\/","title":{"rendered":"Floods in Somalia&#8217;s rivers, which the United Nations announced affected 278,000 people."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At least four people have died and more than 278,000 have been affected by torrential rains and river floods since the start of the autumn rains, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).<\/p>\n<p>The United Nations agency said in its latest flood report that 43,840 people have been displaced from their land, with the majority recorded in Hirshabeelle regional government.<\/p>\n<p>However, the agency said that these people are still vulnerable to flash floods if the rains continue as predicted as most of the displaced areas are in low-lying areas.<\/p>\n<p>According to OCHA, at least 3 people are still missing in Baidoa and Galmudug, 150 others are reported to have been injured in Luuq district of Jubaland state during the heavy rains that fell on October 22.<\/p>\n<p>The agency said that humanitarian partners, in cooperation with local authorities, have launched a response targeting the most vulnerable people, giving priority to those displaced by the floods.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At least four people have died and more than 278,000 have been affected by torrential rains and river floods since the start of the autumn rains, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
