The chairman of the Somaliland House of Representatives appointed a committee of 11 members to harmonize the electoral law and the suggestions of traditional leaders in the election dispute.<\/p>\n

This committee, which was appointed to bring an electoral law that is in line with the conduct of the presidential elections and political organizations, caused a stir in the assembly as some members rejected the manner in which they were selected.<\/p>\n

Some MPs have said that they have spoken to Chairman Yassin Mohamud Hiir Faratoon, and corrections are being made, as the names of the committee that were previously published on the council’s website have now been removed.<\/p>\n

“The governor said that he has divided the committee into districts, and we suggested to the governor that the person who makes the law should be the committee for internal affairs and security,” said one of the MPs who disagreed with the selection of the committee.<\/p>\n

The House of Representatives also accepted the president’s decree which ordered that a law be made and the advice of the elders be implemented as a solution to the conflict between the government and the opposition.<\/p>\n
