The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, received the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Atul Khare, who came to Somalia for a working visit.<\/p>\n

They discussed issues related to military operations against al-Shabaab, reduction of ATMIS forces, and UNSOS support for ATMIS in Somalia.<\/p>\n

A brief news report posted on the X of the Somali Presidency said that the President and the Assistant discussed issues including the fight against Al-Shabaab, and the support of the United Nations.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) provides logistical support to the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and the Somali Security Forces (SSF).<\/p>\n

The UN Deputy Secretary General also met with the Head of the African Union Mission in Somalia, Souef Mohamed El-Amine.<\/p>\n

The two officials discussed the reduction of ATMIS forces, the transition plan in Somalia and how to transfer DFS forces to security and other issues.<\/p>\n

The official from the United Nations arrived when the second phase of ATMIS troop reduction plan was submitted to the United Nations.<\/p>\n
