The Human Rights Committee of the Federal Parliament of Somalia has expressed strong concern about the situation of prisoners in Hamar Central Prison.<\/p>\n

The committee gathered a report from Hamar Central Prison and shared it with members of parliament today, saying that many people have been imprisoned for years without trial.<\/p>\n

The committee also said that there is a lot of neglect in the prison, and that the prisoners are in a difficult situation that cannot be overlooked.<\/p>\n

The committee said that there are people in prison who have completed their sentences and are still incarcerated, those who have been imprisoned in Romania for many years, and those who have been released on bail. They said that they are in prison for sick people who need to get well.<\/p>\n

“Somali citizens who have been imprisoned for three years for 10 dollars, we are the government and wear coats and sit here is a shame,” said the human rights committee.<\/p>\n

The human rights committee has proposed to the parliament that the prisoners of oppression in the central prison should be released, and they said that everyone involved should be called.<\/p>\n

Recently, Somalia’s Minister of Justice, Hassan Macalin, denied that there are people who have been in prison for a long time without trial. The committee said they have seen people imprisoned until 2017 without trial.<\/p>\n
