The governor of Mandera region, Mohamed Adan Khalif, has revealed that 60 percent of his region is under the control of Al-Shabaab.<\/p>\n

The governor said the presence of the Al-Shabaab group has affected the various services in some parts of his region.<\/p>\n

He said this at a meeting to discuss how to deal with Al-Shabaab’s insecurity in the North Eastern region of Kenya, where the leaders called for a stand to prevent terrorist attacks.<\/p>\n

The security meeting was attended by regional governors and the regional intelligence committee from four regions on the border between Kenya and Somalia.<\/p>\n

The leaders of the areas affected by Al-Shabaab attacks have raised concerns about the increasing attacks by Al-Shabaab.<\/p>\n

The leadership of Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Lamu states said that besides the meeting, decisions were made on how to prevent Al-Shabaab, and they called for the public to be educated on how to remove things that support terrorist acts.<\/p>\n

“The meeting discussed how to educate the local community to help those who want to create insecurity in our region,” said Wajir District Governor, Ahmed Abdullahi.<\/p>\n

The Member of Parliament for Lamu East, Ruweida Mohamed said that the attacks in the border regions are not only a threat to the security forces. But it also affects the people in charge, including her.<\/p>\n

The governor of Mandhera said that his administration is unable to serve the people due to Al-Shabaab in the region.<\/p>\n

“For example, in Mandera region, 60 percent is controlled by Al-Shabaab. We cannot provide social services,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The leaders called for the support of the government to fight Al-Shabaab.<\/p>\n
