The Peace and Elders Committee from Garissa has warned politicians from Somalia and the Jubbaland administration to refrain from holding meetings and campaigns in hotels in Kenya.<\/p>\n

The committee expressed concern over the consecutive meetings held by politicians and described them as a threat to the security of their area.<\/p>\n

The elders led by the peace commissioner of Garissa, Osman Ibrahim Abdi, who spoke to the press at a hotel in Garissa, said that politicians are required to imitate their country and areas and conduct their campaigns there.<\/p>\n

“Our message is very clear. Anyone who wants a seat, be it Somalia, Ethiopia or Juba, should go and campaign. We don’t want to see them creating conflict in our communities and provoking unnecessary tension with their meetings in these big hotels. We will not allow that,” he said.<\/p>\n

It was a few days ago when the city of Nairobi was announced as the umbrella of the Union of Jubbaland Candidates, who want to take over the power from Ahmed Madobe, who has ruled Jubbaland for almost 15 years, accusing him of paralyzing the development of Jubbaland and the liberation of that land.<\/p>\n

Their statement comes at a time two weeks ago when the Garissa Police stopped a meeting called by Abdi Ali Rage, who was the former adviser to the former President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, who wants to succeed Ahmed Madobe in the next election.<\/p>\n
