Members of the Somali parliament elected from the South West have accused the country’s armed forces of attacking the South West presidency and the Dervishes of that administration.<\/p>\n

In a press conference held by the MPs in Mogadishu, they said that the responsibility for the attack lies with the commander of the army in Barawe district, named Abdirahman Ili Jimale.<\/p>\n

The parliamentarians accused this officer of disrupting the stability of Barawe district and hindering the system of governance in South West Somalia.<\/p>\n

“That officer is against the existence of South West. There is no evidence that the people in the Lower Shabelle region are being particularly harassed. This is proof that the leaders of SNA are people of the same community,” said a statement issued by the MPs.<\/p>\n

Also, the MPs condemned the ATMIS forces operating in Barawe district. They accused them of handing over the Barawe airport to a group of militias who claim to be SNA.<\/p>\n

They also accused the ATMIS forces of taking away a wounded soldier from the South West Army, and then killing the SNA military.<\/p>\n

The parliamentarians called on the President of Somalia to immediately withdraw the armed forces from Barawe, which they described as tribal militias, and take action against them for the crimes they have committed.<\/p>\n

However, the conflict between the Somali military forces and those of the South West caused casualties and injuries.<\/p>\n

Although the situation is calm this morning, tensions are still high in the city of Barawe.<\/p>\n
