The President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, has announced that two Ugandan army commanders who are part of the ATMIS operation will be brought before the Somali Armed Forces Court.<\/p>\n

The two commanders named Maj Oluka and Maj Obbo, the president of Uganda said, ordered the soldiers to retreat from the May 26 attack by al-Shabaab on the ATMIS mission base in Buulo Mareer area of \u200b\u200bthe Lower Shabelle.<\/p>\n

“They have been arrested and will face the charges in the armed forces court. Our soldiers showed incredible resilience and regrouped, resulting in the recapture of the base,\u201d Mr Museveni said in a statement on Twitter.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the President of Uganda announced that 54 soldiers were killed in the Al-Shabaab attack on ATMIS military base in Buulo Mareer area.<\/p>\n

President Musaveni said last week that there were casualties among the Ugandan forces in the attack, but he did not give further details about the number of soldiers killed in the attack.<\/p>\n

Museveni said in a speech he made earlier that the Ugandan army did not display its military power as it should have, which led Al-Shabaab to capture the base, where they killed many soldiers.<\/p>\n

Al Shabaab has already said that they have killed 137 Ugandan soldiers and seized vehicles, weapons and other equipment from the base.<\/p>\n
