The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, who presided over the meeting of the cabinet, said that the government is sitting on the implementation of the agreement on the process of elections.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Hamse described the implementation of the agreement on the electoral process as a precious opportunity for the Somali people to decide their own destiny.<\/p>\n

“As a government, we have a duty to free people to vote and have a chance for their political rights.” said Prime Minister Hamse.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister said that the government will soon start the second phase of re-liberating Al-Shabaab areas, instructing the ministers to take the lead and go to the battlefields to encourage the troops.<\/p>\n

“We should not be a new political revolution, but let’s be a security revolution that restores peace to this country, forgives debts, completes the constitution, and brings the country to a peaceful and prosperous environment,” said the prime minister.<\/p>\n

The new structure of Somalia’s elections has met with objections from politicians, including former leaders who led the country, who described this agreement as a violation of the country’s constitution and political power sharing in Somalia.<\/p>\n

Puntland, which is part of the member states of the federal government, has also opposed this plan. Puntland has clearly stated that this agreement is against the agreements for the reconstruction of the government of Somalia that started in 2000 in the city of Arta in Djibouti.<\/p>\n

However, the Somali parliament has demanded that the agreement on the new structure of the country’s elections be brought before them, so that they can discuss it and make a decision.<\/p>\n
