Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has issued a message of condolence to all the families of the soldiers who died in the Al-Shabaab attack on the Ugandan army base in Buulo Mareer area.<\/p>\n

The President of Uganda said that they have formed a Board of Inquiry (BOI), saying that the truth will come out.<\/p>\n

The President expressed doubts about how Al-Shabaab managed to capture the camp of the Ugandan commandos in Bulo Mareer.<\/p>\n

Museveni pointed out that weapons including two tanks and anti-aircraft were not used by some Ugandan soldiers as they were supposed to fight, which he said caused them to flee and Al-Shabaab took advantage of them to defeat their army.<\/p>\n

“We send our condolences to the country and the families of those who died. This unfortunate incident should be used to remind all concerned that operations in Somalia are operations of war and not humanitarian operations where you can get UN grants,” said Museveni.<\/p>\n

It was yesterday when Uganda sent its infantry commander to Somalia to assess the damage caused by the attack and to encourage the Ugandan army.<\/p>\n

The official number of people killed in the Al-Shabaab attack in Buulo Mareer area is not yet known. Al-Shabaab said they killed more than 137 ATMIS soldiers.<\/p>\n
