The United Nations has announced that it has received a sum of 2.4 billion dollars to fund aid operations for about 32 million people living in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia.<\/p>\n

But the United Nations said that these donations fell short of the economic funding it was looking for as it warned of a disaster caused by drought in East African countries.<\/p>\n

The United Nations has requested more than 7 billion dollars for the three countries, but before the meeting that was promised on Wednesday, only 25% of Somalia has been funded, Ethiopia 22% and Kenya only 21%.<\/p>\n

The United Nations has identified the Horn of Africa as the epicenter of the world’s worst climate emergencies.<\/p>\n

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, about 40,000 people died in the drought in Somalia last year; half were children under the age of five, according to Antoni Guterres.<\/p>\n
