The New York Times reported today\r\nthat hundreds of Ethiopian soldiers with artillery and tanks crossed\r\ninto Somalia yesterday.\r\n\u00a0\r\n\u201cWe don\u2019t know of any Ethiopian troops crossing into our territory,\u201d\r\nOsman said. \u201cIllegal troops can\u2019t cross a country\u2019s legal border.\u201d\r\n\u00a0\r\nKenyan forces entered Somalia last month after accusing al- Shabaab\r\nmilitants of abducting at least four, foreign aid workers and\r\nholidaymakers in the country, as well as murdering a British man,\r\nbetween September and October. Al-Shabaab, which is battling the\r\nWestern-backed government headed by Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, is\r\nseeking to establish an Islamic state in the Horn of Africa nation.\r\n\u00a0\r\nU.S.-backed Ethiopian forces invaded Somalia in 2006 to oust an\r\nIslamist government that had captured southern Somalia.
