The Federal Government of Somalia has welcomed the election schedule announced by the Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission, which outlines the process for holding elections for both houses of Parliament as well as the country\u2019s presidency.<\/p>\n
In a press release issued on Thursday, October 15, 2026, the government stated that this schedule represents a significant step toward implementing the electoral process and strengthening the nation’s democracy.<\/p>\n
The government noted that, over the past 18 months, it has been working to facilitate an agreement among Somali political stakeholders regarding the country\u2019s critical issues\u2014most notably, the electoral framework.<\/p>\n
It further affirmed that political consultations and dialogues will continue, with the government working to ensure these efforts lead to a broad consensus.<\/p>\n
