The Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia held its first meeting of the 8th Session today, with the House approving a new member appointed to the Independent Human Rights Commission, and submitting two important bills for first reading.<\/p>\n
The meeting was chaired by the Speaker of the Upper House, Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, and was attended by First Deputy Speaker Ali Shabaan Ibrahim and Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Ali Xersi Timacadde.<\/p>\n
The agenda of the meeting consisted of three items, namely the approval of the member to fill the vacant position on the Independent Human Rights Commission, the first reading of the bill establishing the Meteorological and Climate Forecasting Service Agency, and the first reading of the Somali Cyber \u200b\u200bSecurity Bill.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development, Maryan Ali Abuukar, presented the member nominated for the Human Rights Commission to the House, requesting senators to give them a vote of confidence.<\/p>\n
The Senate senators finally approved the new member, who will become a member of the Independent Human Rights Commission.<\/p>\n
The House then proceeded to the first reading of two bills, namely the Bill for the Establishment of the Meteorological and Climate Forecasting Service Agency and the Bill for Cyber \u200b\u200bSecurity in Somalia.<\/p>\n
The Meteorological and Climate Forecasting Bill was introduced by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Hussein Ali Haji, while the Cyber \u200b\u200bSecurity Bill was proposed by the Minister of State for the Ministry of Communications and Technology, Ahmed Osman Diiriye.<\/p>\n
The two officials explained to the senators the importance of these bills, the need for their passage, and the role they can play in the development of institutions and security in the country.<\/p>\n
The meeting was closed after the Speaker of the Upper House directed the relevant committees to take over the two bills, review them, and work on them in accordance with constitutional and legal procedures.<\/p>\n
The two bills have now moved to the committee stage, before being returned to the House for further legislative action.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
