Gedo regional governor, Abdullahi Shimbir, said that any election held in the region must be based on consultation and legality, saying that the regional administration was not consulted on the plans for the elections that were said to be held in Gedo.<\/p>\n
Governor Shimbir said that discussions with the Federal Government in Mogadishu focused on electoral issues and the implementation of the one-person-one-vote system, but he said that the dispute between the federal government and the President of Jubbaland, Ahmed Madobe, had an impact on Gedo.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will not accept elections that the people of the region do not know about, and that we are not consulted about, either,\u201d said the Gedo regional governor.<\/p>\n
He said that there is currently an effort to resolve the dispute between the federal government and Jubbaland, noting that the Jubbaland administration is ready for dialogue and a political solution.<\/p>\n
The Gedo regional governor also said that there is no conflict or war with the federal government, but warned against actions that he said could lead to political or security tensions if elections are held in the region without consensus.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Shimbir governor said that the dispute with the Jubbaland administration has ended, clarifying that they are still part of the Jubbaland administration.<\/p>\n
