The President of Jubbaland, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madoobe), has warned that the Somali state is on a dangerous path, accusing the leadership of the Federal Government of Somalia (DFS) of undermining the federal system and concentrating power in Mogadishu.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the new session of the Jubbaland Parliament, Ahmed Madoobe said that today the Somali state is limited to Mogadishu, while other administrations are being diverted from their constitutional roles.<\/p>\n

The President of Jubbaland also spoke about the issue of Somaliland, saying that they have the right to seek their own political destiny, but he described them as having gone a long way instead of taking a path within Somalia. He warned that the current direction could create new national dangers.<\/p>\n

Ahmed Madoobe said that if nothing is done about the way President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is governing the country, Puntland and Jubbaland may take a path of self-determination, which could distance them from the solution sought in Somaliland.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Ahmed Madoobe said that the decisions made by the Federal Government regarding Somalia\u2019s ports and airspace cannot change the reality on the ground, noting that the federal government has failed to control the country\u2019s airspace, and it will be difficult to control Jubbaland\u2019s ports.<\/p>\n

Finally, the President of Jubbaland announced that if President Hassan Sheikh does not respond within 20 days, Jubbaland will begin its own electoral process, which will not wait for May 15, but will be held before.<\/p>\n

This statement comes at a time of increasing political differences between the Federal Government and some of the state governments, which has raised fears that the country is facing a very difficult political phase.<\/p>\n
