The local council elections in the districts of Banadir region officially began in Mogadishu on Thursday morning, with candidates from 20 political parties competing.<\/p>\n

Security at polling stations and polling stations has been tightened to ensure the safety of voters and the process of one person, one vote.<\/p>\n

Long lines of people in Mogadishu have been lined up to cast their votes this morning, reflecting the enthusiasm and hope of the Somali people who have revived after more than 50 years.<\/p>\n

About 10,000 soldiers from the Somali Federal Government security forces are fully ensuring security, and are on full alert to stabilize the security areas of the election.<\/p>\n

Federal government officials have already cast their votes, including Deputy Prime Minister Saleh Jama and Deputy Minister of Information Abdirahman Al-Adaala, and the Governor of Banadir Region Muungaab.<\/p>\n

Officials who cast their votes sent a message to the public participating in the election, encouraging them to take advantage of the historic opportunity to cast their votes.<\/p>\n

The local council elections are seen as a new era for the people of Mogadishu, as the country has gone through nearly 40 years of difficult times.<\/p>\n

Most Somalis hope that the results of these elections will lead to local administrations that represent the will of the people and work towards sustainable development and stability.<\/p>\n

Finally, the public voting is scheduled to end at 6:00 pm tonight, as announced by the National Election Commission, and it is worth noting that today’s elections were boycotted by the Opposition Forum.<\/p>\n
