The Commander of the Somali National Army, Major General Mahad Abdirahman Adan, known as Taliye Shub\u2019, has announced strict measures to curb drug use and arms trafficking within the army, calling on officers and personnel to demonstrate honesty and high work ethics.<\/p>\n

General Mahad said the army is required to uphold the reputation and trust of the public, noting that members involved in drug-related crimes or illegal weapons will not be tolerated.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny soldier found using drugs will be dismissed from the army, anyone involved in arms trafficking will be punished, and it is everyone\u2019s responsibility to report anyone they know is involved in such acts,\u201d the Commander said.<\/p>\n

General Mahad also stated that officers and personnel who conceal crimes they know about, or try to protect those who have committed crimes, will also face legal action.<\/p>\n

He added that senior officers are being sent to the regions to monitor the operation to strengthen discipline and fight corruption in the military, stressing that anyone found guilty should not consider pardon or “attempt to escape” the President’s order.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Commander Mahad said that new youths who are undergoing training have been brought into the army, who are replacing retired members, in order to have a new army that is capable and loyal.<\/p>\n

These measures are part of a broader plan to improve the work of the army and restore public confidence in the security institutions.<\/p>\n
