Former Speaker of the House of the People Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman and a delegation of MPs he led were today prevented from traveling to Baidoa, the capital of Bay region.<\/p>\n

The incident is based on a political dispute between these politicians from the South West region and the president of the region, Abdiasis Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen.<\/p>\n

The delegation led by former Speaker of the House of the People Mohamed Mursal included other MPs from the region, including MP Mohamed Abuukar Abdi, MP Mohamed Abdi Mohamed, MP Mukhtaar Mohamed Guuleed, MP Mohamed Keerow Mohamed and MP Xawo Sokor Ali.<\/p>\n

MP Mohamed Abdi Frank, who was part of the delegation of officials who were prevented from traveling to Baidoa, said that the president of the South West region, Abdiasis Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, ordered that the plane they were on not carry members of their delegation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe plane we were supposed to fly with said, \u2018You can\u2019t pick up those people.\u2019 He gave orders to the planes operating in Baidoa, and that\u2019s how our trip was blocked,\u201d said MP Mohamed Abdi Frank.<\/p>\n

The MPs who were prevented from traveling to Baidoa today are set to hold a press conference with the Mogadishu media in the coming hours, where they will discuss the reasons why they refused to go to Baidoa.<\/p>\n
