Some of the political parties in Puntland, namely Ifiye, Mustaqbal, Mideeye and Sincad, have jointly issued a press release rejecting an agreement that Puntland has reached with Somaliland.<\/p>\n

The parties said that the agreement is not in accordance with the Puntland constitution, and is against the interests of the people of Puntland, and is against the unity of Somalia.<\/p>\n

The parties underlined the need to involve political stakeholders in important matters in Puntland, since they said they are representatives of the people.<\/p>\n

They warned the Puntland government against entering into secret agreements that do not go through the legal process of administration.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, Puntland opposition politicians strongly condemned a statement issued at a conference in Nairobi, which was said to be between Puntland and Somaliland.<\/p>\n

Opposition politicians have said the statement from the Puntland-Somaliland meeting does not reflect the interests of the Somali people, territorial integrity and the general will of the nation.<\/p>\n

They accused the statement of directly serving the political agenda of the self-proclaimed Somaliland, by using terms that could be interpreted as indirect recognition.<\/p>\n
