The Somali people and some opposition politicians have strongly criticized the actions of the government of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud regarding the sale of important public buildings, including the former Ministry of Health, Lansareeti Hospital, and other historic buildings in the capital, Mogadishu.<\/p>\n

The issue has sparked a debate about the government\u2019s respect for social welfare facilities and the protection of national property, and has been heavily criticized by MP Abdirahman Abdishakur.<\/p>\n

Opposition politician Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame wrote a strong criticism of the government on his Facebook page, describing the sale of health facilities as a move that shows the government\u2019s morale and responsibility is lower than even the clan militias of the civil war.<\/p>\n

“During the country’s darkest times, when fighting raged on all sides, clan militias used to desecrate health facilities. The sale of the Ministry of Health, Lansareeti Hospital and historical heritage buildings is evidence that the administration of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has lower morale, ethics and integrity than the clan militias,” said Abdirahman Abdishakur.<\/p>\n

Lansareeti Hospital and the other facilities that were reportedly sold were a symbol of health and historical services for the Somali people, especially during times of destruction and war.<\/p>\n

The Somali government has previously stated that it needs the old government centers to provide social services, but there is strong concern among the people that so far no government center has been built to provide government services.<\/p>\n
