The situation in Baladxawo town in Gedo region has calmed down today after heavy fighting in the past few days between the Federal government forces and the Jubbaland administration.<\/p>\n

The calm felt in the town today is based on the fact that government forces led by Abdirashid Janan completely took control of Baladxawo district last night.<\/p>\n

The government forces\u2019 takeover of Baladxawo district is said to have come as a result of a joint plan with pro-Jubbaland forces, which led to the successful cessation of the fighting that has been going on in the town for the past two weeks.<\/p>\n

Government forces are today in strategic locations, including the district headquarters, the police station, and the immigration center, all of which were previously under the control of Jubbaland forces.<\/p>\n

Reports also indicate that the Jubbaland forces that were vacated by the positions have retreated towards the Kenyan border, without putting up any resistance.<\/p>\n

Telecommunications and electricity services in the city were also restored this morning, and today, in some neighborhoods of the city, business and normal life have already begun to gradually return.<\/p>\n
