The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, this morning to attend the 2nd World Food Security Conference, organized by the United Nations (UN), with the conference focusing on finding sustainable solutions to the global food crisis.<\/p>\n

The President was officially welcomed at Addis Ababa Airport by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Temesgen Tiruneh, Ethiopian government officials and representatives of the United Nations.<\/p>\n

This high-level conference will bring together heads of state, international organizations and food stakeholders to accelerate efforts to ensure food security and reduce the risk of hunger and malnutrition, especially in Africa and Asia.<\/p>\n

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is expected to deliver a keynote address at the conference, highlighting the food insecurity situation in Somalia and the Horn of Africa region, Somalia\u2019s efforts to reduce social vulnerability, the challenges of climate change affecting agricultural and livestock production, and international cooperation to strengthen sustainable development.<\/p>\n

The conference is set to have a significant impact on strengthening international support for vulnerable countries like Somalia, by building effective strategies to ensure access to adequate food, especially during times of drought or natural disasters.<\/p>\n
