The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held an official meeting with the President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, to discuss important issues related to security, economic cooperation, and humanitarian assistance.<\/p>\n

The meeting, which is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen brotherly and neighborly relations between the two neighboring countries, was held in Djibouti.<\/p>\n

The Presidents discussed in depth the security situation in the Horn of Africa region, in particular the threat posed by the Al-Shabaab group to the stability of Somalia and the region as a whole.<\/p>\n

President Hassan Sheikh thanked the government of Djibouti for its role in the ATMIS operation and its support for the Somali forces.<\/p>\n

They discussed ways to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries, and the two Presidents agreed to establish a permanent committee to work on promoting economic cooperation, markets, and port development.<\/p>\n

President Hassan Sheikh expressed particular concern over the severe drought in the Awdal region, and requested urgent support from the government of Djibouti.<\/p>\n

President Guelleh pledged that Djibouti is ready to stand by the Somali people, especially those affected by the drought and hardships of life.<\/p>\n

The two Presidents stressed the importance of comprehensive cooperation between the countries of the Horn of Africa, to address the challenges of security, climate change, and poverty. They noted that stability in Somalia is a central pillar of peace in the region.<\/p>\n
